You can find this being served most Chinese Dim Sum Restaurant. This is actually a traditional food for Chinese New Year. During Chinese New Year, a lot of family will made the Turnip Cake to treat their guest.
Ingredients:
3 ½ lb Chinese White Turnip (白蘿蔔)
4 Chinese Sausages (臘腸)
3 oz Chinese Bacon (臘肉)
4 pcs Chinese Dried Mushroom (冬菇)
13 oz Rice Flour (粘米粉)
3 ½ Cup Water
Seasonings A:
1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 tbsp Chinese Cooking Wine
2 tsp Light Soya Sauce
2 tsp Sugar
Seasonings B:
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
2 tbsp Sugar
2 tsp Chicken Stock Powder (雞粉)
1 tsp White Pepper
Preparations:
1. Soak Chinese Dried Mushroom in water until tender.
2. Peel and grate turnip. 1/3 thick strips and 2/3 think strips.
3. In a medium mixing bowl, mix rice flour with 1 ½ cup of water. Stir until no lumps.
4. Cut Sausages, Bacon and Mushroom into small pieces.
5. In a saucepan, add oil, Sausages, Bacon and Mushroom.
6. Add Seasonings A, sauté for 5 minutes. Set aside.
7. In a large saucepan, add turnip and Seasonings B and 2 Cup Water. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
8. Add 2/3 of the sausages mixed Mixed well.
9. Add flour mixture, quickly stir and combine all ingredients into a thick batter.
10. Pour batter into a greased tray. Add the rest of the sausage mixed.
11. Steam over high heat with covered for 60 minutes.
