Strawberry Jam

We went strawberry picking with the kids and got more than what we can eat. So, I tried making strawberry jam for the first time. It’s actually very easy, and the outcome is a lot better than the store bought ones.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups Fresh Strawberry, Sliced

  • 1 Cup Sugar

  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice

Preparations:

1. Chill a plate in the freezer.

2. In a wide pot, bring the fruit, sugar and lemon juice to boil over medium-high heat, stir occasionally.

3. Reduced heat to medium and cook, stir constantly. Cook for about 15 minutes until mixture begins to look like syrup and thicken lightly.

4. Spoon ½ tsp of the hot mixture onto the cold plate and let it sit for 30 seconds. Tip the plate to one side, the jam should be soft gel and move slightly. If the jam is too thin, cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Repeat test.

5. Store jam in an air tight container. Jam can refrigerate for 2 to 3 weeks.
