Layer Water Chestnut Cake (千層馬蹄糕)



This is a one of a kind recipe.It`s chewy on the cake and crispy with water chestnut inside.It can be served cold or hot. I personally think they are best to pan fried the slices.


 

Ingredients:


  • 300 g Water Chestnut Flour

  • 300 g Brown Sugar

  • 5 Cups Water

  • 300 g Diced Water Chestnut

Preparations:

1. Peel and dice water chestnut.

2. In a mixing bowl, combined 3 cups of water and sifted water chestnut flour.

3. In a pot, boiled brown sugar in 2 cups of water until dissolved. Add water chestnut. Bring to boiled.



4. Pour in the flour mixture, stir quickly.

5. Pour 3/4 cup of the flour mixture in a casserole dish, about 5 mm depth of the dish.

6. Steam for 3 minutes, or until it set. Repeat with the rest of the flour mixture.

7. Steam for another 10 minutes until cooked through.

8. Remove from steamer. Let cool.
