Black Sesame Roll (芝麻卷)


This is a soft and smooth Chinese Dim Sum which most kids loved. Some kids unrolled it before eating, some just give it a big bite. Doesn’t matter how you eat them, it’s always everyone’s favorite.


Ingredients:

  • 50 g Ground Black Sesame (黑芝麻粉)

  • 10 g Water Chestnut Flour (馬蹄粉)

  • 10 g Corn Starch (粟粉)

  • 10 g Wheat Flour (澄麵)

  • 1 tsp Vegetable Oil (生油)

  • 60 g Rock Sugar (冰糖)

  • 290 ml Water (清水)

  • ½ tsp Sesame Oil (麻油)

Preparation:

1. In a small sauce pan, bring 100 ml water to boil, dissolve rock sugar in boiling water.


2. In a large mixing bowl, mixed together the reminding 190 ml water, sesame powder, water chestnut flour, corn starch, oil. If the ground sesame is not fine enough, you may want to sift it before adding it to the mixture.





3. Pour the sugar mixture into the sesame mixture quickly and stir.

4. Pour a thin layer of sesame mixture into a 9” * 9” baking pan. Steam for 3 minutes.

5. Remove pan from steamer, let cool.

6. Roll the layer of steamed sesame mixture from 1 side. Cut into desired length and serve.
